THE WAR IN IRAQ HAS ONLY CREATED MORE TERRORISTS:
This may just be the dumbest Moore-onism of all. It is predicated upon the notion that all of these insurgents now fighting
our troops in Iraq were, prior to our arrival, peaceful followers of Islam who only wanted to spend their time flying kites
with their kids (as shown in Moore’s schlockumentary "Fahrenheit 9/11"). Related to that belief is that "we are
only causing them to hate us and have therefore made the world more dangerous." Just listen to John Kerry, that’s what
he’ll tell you. It’s as if the events of 9/11/01 never registered on their radar.
Who exactly were we invading when those four planes were hijacked that day? What were we Americans doing to the Arab world
to make them hate us that much? Let’s see, we bombed back the Serbs to save the lives of thousands of ethnic Muslims
in Kosovo, we liberated a Muslim nation called Kuwait from the brutal occupation imposed upon it by a guy named Saddam Hussein,
and we’ve sent tons of foreign aid to Egypt, which, last time I checked, was still full of Arabs and Muslims. So it
doesn’t appear that what we actually do makes much difference as to determining whether radical Muslim fanatics
hate us or not, does it? And I suppose it will never register in the minds of liberals that possibly, just possibly,
the reason they are so angry about the destruction of Saddam’s regime is that, he was their main sugar daddy!
They’ve lost their very own ‘Daddy Warbucks’ and they’re still pissed-off about it. Good, let them
be, because what we’ve done is to draw them into a killing ground where they face off against our soldiers and our Marines,
the best trained military machine in the world, and they are being killed by the thousands. They are like an army of lemmings
(once again an appropriate metaphor) marching to the sea and smashing themselves upon the rocks in a surf that is far more
powerful than they are. Would you rather have them here targeting civilians or would you rather have them there being killed
by U.S. Marines? Do you think for a minute that if we pulled out of Iraq that these guys would suddenly turn to non-violence,
pick up the kite strings to spend a day in the park with their kids and join the local Iraqi version of the PTA to become
better parents? Keep dreaming.
Liberals may believe that we are "creating more terrorists" but, like I said, our actions are not the cause of their hatred.
It’s just there, an intractable hatred of who we are, and it’s better to fight them in Baghdad than in
New York. And at the rate they are piling up casualties I would guess that by the end of Bush’s second term in office
approximately 98 percent of al Queda’s membership will have gone the way of Osama bin Laden. And who can argue against
that?
