Of all the news this week (Bush crushes Kerry by 11%, Kerry campaign implodes, Bill Clinton has heart surgery, and Hurricane
Frances), nothing comes close to the magnitute of the Islamist siege of a school in Beslan, Russia. This event was at the
forefront of my mind last Friday, although it wasn't given the attention in the media that it should have been given.
Of all the things the terrorists did (not allowing any food or water, making the hostages drink urine, making the children
disrobe because of the intense heat, using human shields, planting bombs throughout the gym, laughing at the prisoners, or
blowing themselves up), nothing is as horrific as the terrorists on the roof who shot children in the back while they were
running away. As a parent (and with school starting this week), I couldn't help thinking of how it would be if MY children
were in that school. The barbarism displayed by the Islamists dwarfs anything I have seen in my lifetime.
Granted, I didn't see much of Pol Pot's atrocities (I was too young), and I wasn't even alive when Hitler was stuffing Jews
into ovens. But this act ranks as one of the worst I've ever seen. In some ways, it's worse than 9/11 (in evil, if not in
scope).
Perhaps the most painful thought was when the terrorists allowed some of the children to be released. When parents came
in to get them, they were allowed to take only ONE child (and had to leave their other children behind). I cannot even
imagine how hard it would be for a parent to do that (not to mention how traumatized the left-behind children will
be). To me, that is the most horrific part of this whole ordeal.
I was interested to see some of the comments emailed to the BBC by Russians, expressing their outrage at this horrible
event. Half of the Russians said Putin didn't do enough to protect them. The other half said that he did all he could, and
under the circumstances it's a miracle that they weren't all killed (which is what I think). What I didn't
see were Russians emailing the BBC to say "We brought this on," or "It's our fault." Not one of them faulted Russian foreign
policy or tried to make excuses for the Islamists. This is good. I wish Americans could muster that kind of unity. Unfortunately,
the Michael Moore wing of the loony left (and the mainstream democratic party) has made that impossible. And (not to get into
politics over this tragedy) didn't John Kerry say during the primaries that the threat of global terrorism was "exaggerated?"
John Kerry doesn't have the vision, foresight or intestinal fortitude (balls) to lead America at this dangerous time in our
history. He's finished.
I'm not sure when this happened, but apparently the FCC has now banned the use of the word "terrorist," because every
mainstream news source I watched this weekend (including local stations) called these pieces of human excrement "militants,"
"extremists," "separatists," "hostage-takers," and "rebels." Not once did I hear the word "terrorist." How fucking shameful.
Finally, I would like to point out that not only could this happen here, it might have happened if Bush,
Ashcroft, and the rest of the "nazis" in the Bush administration hadn't done such excellent work in the days following 9/11.
Yes, I'm sure there were some innocent Muslims arrested during the big sweep. But invariably, there were scores of Al Qaeda
and their sympathizers arrested during that period. Anyone who doubts this is a fool.
In fact, members of a group called the Portland Seven (who tried to go to Afghanistan and kill American
soldiers) have admitted that they planned to blow up a school in Oregon. This shit had better not
happen here, because there will be internment camps. I don't want to see that, I'm just saying it will happen. And like the
Nepalese who rioted and burned mosques in Nepal (after 12 of their civilians were decapitated in Iraq), the Russians have
been pushed to their limit. They've had two planes blown out of the sky (by Muslims), a suicide bomb attack at a subway (by
a Muslim), and now this brutal, savage attack on a school. The shit is about to hit the fan, and the "mainstream" media had
better start telling us the truth. They could start by showing us the photo at the top of this page (and by "showing" I mean
"broadcasting it on television," instead of me having to dig through the internet to find it).
At this time, my heart breaks for the people of Beslan. I don't know what we can do, other than send the Russian Embassy
emails of support. While we can't do anything to bring back their loved ones (or help them track down and kill the vermin
behind this atrocity), we CAN send money and show our support.
Here's a place where you can donate to help the victims. I'm doing that, and I'd like to ask you all to do the same. As you know, I don't have a paypal button on this site, and
I don't ask for donations. This is a cause worth supporting. Why not just take whatever money you were going to waste at Burlington
Coat Factory (
before you saw their "Che" ad) and donate it to the victims in Beslan?
Thank you,
