I have received a flood of emails recently regarding Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (and their website www.swiftvets.com). Some people are calling B.S. to this group, others are saying this will be the final nail in the coffin of John Kerry's
career. Here's what I think:
First of all, let's just drop the "You didn't serve in Vietnam, so you can't comment on it" line of "reasoning."
Since I was still a child when the war ended, I didn't serve in 'Nam. That's irrelevant. John Kerry has made his status
as a "War Hero" the central theme of his campaign. If he wasn't making such a big deal out of it, neither would anyone else.
And I love how marxist dirtbags like to say that if you didn't serve (specifically on the SAME BOAT as Kerry) then you
have no right to criticize him. If that's the case, then shouldn't we all shut up about Lynndie England and her white trash
escapades at Abu Ghraib? There's nothing like a little inconsistancy to prove whether or not someone is a left-wing dipshit.
I've seen Swift Boat Veterans for Truth's website (I've actually linked to it), and I've heard these
guys on the radio. Their stories (although somewhat oddly smelling of BS at times) are overall quite compelling. In addition,
another vet who served with Kerry is coming out with a book entitled "Unfit for Command." Let's take a look at some of
the allegations against Kerry.
1) Kerry faked his injury for his first Purple Heart. Some are saying that Kerry shot up a rock pile, and a small
sliver of shrapnel ricocheted into his hand. When he went to the doctor, the doc laughed and told him to piss up a rope. Is
this true? I have no idea, but given John Kerry's own behavior and penchant for lying and projecting, I think it probably
is. The DNC is now saying that there is no medical record of this doctor treating John Kerry (as "proof" that the story isn't
true). However, I seriously doubt that the doctor would have made a record of him treating someone for a minor scrape such
as this.
2) Kerry isn't a "War Hero." I'm not so sure about this. There's no doubt in my mind that Kerry is a grandstander
and a self-absorbed prick. Why else would he take a movie camera with him to 'Nam, and reenact specific battles after the
fact? I'm sure Kerry isn't telling the truth about everything. But is he a war hero? Didn't he save that Rassman guy by pulling
him out of the water while under fire? If this happened, then I would say that qualifies him as a "hero" at least. Perhaps
he should embrace the title of "Good Samaritan."
3) Kerry shot an unarmed teenage boy in the back while he was running away. This story (if true) is horrible.
However, unlike liberals who want to villify Vietnam Veterans (then glorify them when it's convenient) I am going to be consistent.
The book claims that Kerry shot a boy who was carrying a rocket launcher (which "may or may not have been loaded") while he
ran away. Apparently, someone had shot a rocket at Kerry's boat. Kerry's team fired back, and wounded the teen in the leg.
Kerry then (allegedly) landed the boat, ran after the kid and finished him off. Given the horrific realities of
war, I'm not going to condemn this action. Kerry was shot at by someone, and that someone was most likely the teenager
who ran away. I don't care if the launcher he was carrying was loaded or not. I know this is going to rub people the wrong
way, but save your "I'm disappointed in you" emails. I understand where you're coming from. I'm not saying it's a GOOD thing
to shoot unarmed teenagers (in the back). But if it happened, I can understand why.
4) Kerry betrayed his country. This is unquestionably true. In fact, I don't know why Swift Boat Vets for Truth
doesn't just come out and play Kerry's own words in their ad. Nobody can dispute that when John Kerry came back from 'Nam
and told the Senate about all the war crimes being committed, he emboldened the enemy and extended the suffering of our POWs.
Emboldening the enemy seems to be something of a hobby for Kerry, Carter, Kennedy, and the other left-wing traitors in our
government. This and this alone should negate any "War Hero" status Kerry claims to have. Furthermore, given Kerry's penchant
for PROJECTIONISM, I would say it is certain that he didn't see anyone else doing these things, and that he was projecting
his own war crimes on to others. He's done it to Bush dozens of times in just the past several months on almost
every issue.
5) The media is firmly on Kerry's side. This isn't something claimed by Swift Boat Vets for Truth, it's just
a personal observation. Since they can't bury this story, they're doing all they can to villify the people who claimed
to have served with Kerry. I have no problem with the media digging at this story until they reveal the TRUTH (whichever way
it turns out). I would like to verify the stories these guys are telling, and if any of them are lying, I want to know. However,
coming out and parroting the DNC talking points (such as "NONE OF these guys served on the same boat with Kerry") is not only
disingenuous, it's an outright falsehood. The man who was the machine gunner on Kerry's boat is one of his biggest critics.
He sounds a bit too gleeful in his criticism, but shouldn't the media "investigate" his claims? The more they try to sweep
it under the rug, the bigger this story is going to get.
So, until Kerry signs the required forms in order for his War Records to be released to the public, I will continue
to keep the link to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth up and running.
And I completely agree with President Bush's reaction. He should NOT condemn these ads. How many millions of
dollars have George Soros and others spent to fund Moron.Org's hateful, treasonous commercials calling Bush Hitler, a
nazi, a terrorist, and making fun of HIS military record? Horseface extraordinaire Terry McAullife himself has mocked Bush's
military service. I hope that this is only the beginning of the shit hitting the fan. The DNC (with their allies in the media,
Hollywood, academia, and elsewhere) have said the most vile, traitorous things I've ever heard a president being called, and
let's hope they all learn what a bitch payback is.
