Local Marxist rag outdoes itself with attack on 'achievers'
Warning: Long Article Alert!!

On Monday, November 10th, Yours Truly (and 22,000 other unfortunate residents of the Portland Metro area) took a day off work to attend a "Success Conference" featuring Peter Lowe, Zig Ziglar, and former N.Y. Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. Apart from a "Miss America"esque singer (who was very talented, but made the breaks between speakers seem a bit cheesy with her over-the-top patriotic songs) the event was well worth it.

Of course, anything attended by normal Americans is often seen as too "Ward Cleaver" by the leftist garbage that writes for The Oregonian (a Maoist, hip, post-modern fish-wrapper if I ever saw one). Today (on the front cover of The Oregonian) the city was treated to a 'news' report by unknown writer Joseph Rose. Mr. Rose saw fit to promptly bitch and moan about the traffic congestion caused by the 'freaks' going to the event at the Rose Quarter. Rather than bore you with the entire article, let's just put him in his place, shall we?

First of all, NO, I'm not a Kool Aid drinker, nor were the thousands who went to the event. We aren't a bunch of "kum-ba-ya" lemmings (unlike the Dalai Lama's sheep or Michael Moore sychophants - who receive nothing but lavish praise from The Oregonian). We ARE, however, independent thinkers (and will strike back when attacked).

Let me poke some holes in Mr. Rose's article:

1) He called the gridlock "freakish," a term many 'writers' in leftist circles use to describe people they disagree with (especially conservative minorities running for Governor in the South). True, he used the term to describe the traffic, but we all know it was really aimed at the attendees. By the way, thousands of us rode the MAX train to and from the event, so shut the fuck up about the traffic already.....

2) Mr. Rose also got in a dig at the attendees when he talked about some author that nobody's ever heard of (Steve Strogatz, an 'expert' on chaos theory and gerbilism) and said that the people who went to the seminar probably didn't know who Mr. Strogatz is "because he's not a motivational speaker." Ha ha, I get it... (But seriously, who HAS heard of Mr. Strogatz???)

I would like to point out that the first speaker was Krish Dhanam, an immigrant from India who came to this country with NOTHING, and is now a millionaire (like most Asians, he did it with hard work and self-sacrifice - to the chagrin of the Race Mafia and the Esse excuse makers). I think it's safe to say that Mr. Rose (or anyone at the Oregonian) has likely never heard of Mr. Dhanam (because he isn't a Bush-basher, America-hater, dope-smoker, Critical Mass idiot, New-Age Nitwit, self-made 'victim' or homeless bum). Mr. Dhanam doesn't fit The Oregonian's definition of what an "immigrant" is supposed to be: an illegal border jumper (conveniently referred to as an 'undocumented worker,' being 'victimized by the system'). Not surprisingly, Mr. Dhanam was never mentioned in the Oregonian article. His success doesn't fit their political agenda.

3) In his article, Mr. Rose continually harps on traffic congestion (a legitimate target). However, does he (or anyone at The Boregonian) complain about the Critical MassHoles shutting down the city once a month? Does anyone at The Oregonian complain about Trojan Horse 'peace' protesters blocking traffic? Of course they don't...

4) Furthermore, Rosey tried to belittle the event by pointing out that Goldie Hawn was a guest speaker. I can tell you that none of the men there gave a crap about what Goldie Hawn had to say about success. She was only there to draw women to the event (and what's wrong with that?). If Mr. Rose's assertion is that women are dumb, so be it. Oh yeah, Joe Montana was thoroughly unimpressive (but what would you expect from a dumb jock?). However, Zig Ziglar, Krish Dhanam and Rudy Giuliani were phenomenal.

5) The crowd at this event consisted primarily of hard-working, upper-middle class normal Americans (who earn more than the average Joe Punchclock). To be honest, I was very happy to see such a turnout. Since Michael Moore drew only 5000 or so when he came to Portland with his hate speech, and this event drew over 20,000, it was proof positive of something The Oregonian doesn't want to admit. There are far more normal, hard-working Americans in the Portland area than there are negative, lazy, bum-hugging, Bush-bashing, sleeper-cell embracing, flag-burning, soulpatch, patchouli-soaked Naderites. If The Oregonian would just wake up to this fact, they might avoid losing even more readers than they currently are.

I saw the crowd. Hell, I was part of the crowd. Apart from the Mariah Carey singing, the event was brilliant. There were men and women (of all races). There were professionals, and a few people looking for work. All major employers from the region were represented (Nike, Intel, Sun Microsystems, etc.).

But even more important were the people who DIDN'T attend.

Here's a short list of who wasn't there: Jack Tafari, Tre Arrow, Craig Rosebraugh, Vera Katz, Ward Weaver, Critical Mass, Mike Hawash, the No War Drum Corps, The Portland Seven, Eco-Terrorists, Ralph Nader, Michael Moron, PETA, ALF, ELF, MILF, Communists, Socialists, and Greens. There wasn't a single person there wearing a Che Guevara shirt. In other words, there weren't any of the loopy, leafy, lefty loosers of Portland that invariably get all the good front-page coverage from The Whoregonian.
