The Council on American-Islamic Relations filed a 20 "kajillion-million" dollar lawsuit against NBC and
its parent company (GE) this week. The suit revolves around NBC's use of "Middle Eastern looking men" in last Sunday night's
Movie of the Week, called Homeland Security. The movie, which was based upon the events before and after September
11th, featured several dark-skinned bushy-eyed actors (most likely of Arabic ethnicity) portraying the 9/11 hijackers. "This
was just more pro-Bush, anti-Islam propoganda, and we are demanding that NBC apologizes for the racial stereotyping it
used in the movie," said CAIR director Ibrahim Hoopter. CAIR has also demanded that NBC start including more Al Jazeera reports
in its newscasts, something that NBC points out has ALREADY been happening with Katie Couric on the Today Show.
This lawsuit comes on the heels of a much larger, class-action suit filed jointly by CAIR, al Qaida, and
John Zogby aimed at the content of news reports on the War on Terrorism. The groups have banded together to force CNN, NBC,
ABC, CBS and Fox to STOP portraying suicide bombers, hijackers, and generally unruly thugs as being of Middle Eastern or Islamic
origin. "That Bush campaign ad showing a dark-skinned shifty-eyed Arab man while the term "fighting terrorism" was spoken
was one of the most racist things I think I've ever seen," said pollster John Zogby (himself of Arab decent). "But when
I see so-called "news" organizations showing pictures of Osama bin Laden or portraying suicide bombers as Middle Eastern men,
that's when I know something isn't right."
The goal of the class-action suit (apart from getting tons of money, that is) is to force the major news
networks to stop focusing on Middle Eastern Islamist terrorists, and instead do more reporting on Swedish and Christian terrorists.
Good luck with that.....
